Step 1: Start by removing loose rust with a wire brush. Apply POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser to the surface, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water and allow it to dry. For areas with heavy buildup, use a stiff brush to break up the material and continuously apply POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser to keep the surface wet. It's crucial not to let the product dry on the surface before rinsing with water.

Step 2: Apply POR-15 Metal Prep to the bare metal surface, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry. After drying, the surface may show a flash rust or white powdery residue - this is normal. POR-15 Metal Prep provides the best surface profile and enhances paint adhesion on any type of metal.

Step 3: Apply two thin coats of POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. Use the supplied brush to apply the first coat to the prepared substrate. Apply the second coat when the first coat is nearly dry to the touch. Avoid applying the product too heavily to prevent brush marks in the finish. Do not apply in humidity above 70%, as it may result in small bubbles in the finish.
